10 Things 90's Babies Will Remember

Hello and welcome to another special! I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and since I'm a 90's kid, I thought I would write a special blog post to invite my fellow 90's Readers to join me in this feeling of nostalgia. So, are you ready to take a little trip down memory lane? Here's 10 things 90's babies will remember:
1. Jawbreakers

Growing up I wasn't much of a candy kinda person. I'm more into baked goods and chocolate. But a jawbreaker was the candy of champions. I loved everything about jawbreakers. From the look of the outside to the core that reminded me of what a planet would look like if you cut it in half (I was and still am a big science nerd). And the flavors were awesome. The deeper you licked into it the more variable the flavors because there was a different flavor to each layer. Sadly I never got to finish one completely. Even sadder its been years since I've seen jawbreakers sold in local and small supermarkets. I wish it would come back so I can get a chance to finish one.
2. The water ring toss game

If I had to name a reason for getting frustrated at a game, this would be it. However, I'm proud to say that I have once and only once beaten this game and gotten all rings onto the poles. That only happened after like 3 hours straight of trying to beat this thing. The reason this was the most antagonizing game was because you had to propel the rings onto the poles with jets of air in the water and sometimes you would hit the rings you already managed to land onto the poles and knock them off. Let me tell you this, I get nostalgic and all, but I definitely do not wanna play this again because it makes me way too mad.
3. 90's Cartoon Network

The Cartoon Network back in my day is one of the things I miss most from my childhood and still wish existed until now. Shows like Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Power Puff Girls, The Kids Next Door, and Dexter's Laboratory all had a hand in developing the kids who watched them into the adults they've become today. Plus, unlike shows in the current Cartoon Network, each show always had a meaning and lesson to teach you. They were interesting then and still are now. I actually find myself questioning a lot of things when watching them again. That and they still make me laugh just like in the old days.
4. The Pepsi Man game

This game made no sense to me back when I was a kid and it still doesn't make any sense to me. But, for reasons unbeknownst to me, it was a lot of fun to play. I wasn't much of a gamer when I was a kid and I still don't like video games very much but this was one of the small handful of games I would actually play on a regular basis. It also made me laugh really hard because of the way Pepsi Man ran and when he would fall it was the most hilarious thing. I wouldn't mind playing Pepsi Man again.
5. Goosebumps and Shivers books

Back in school when the English teacher would have us go to the library and pick a book to read over a week and write a review about, these bad boys were my go-to books to grab. I absolutely LOVE Goosebumps and Shivers books. These were the origin of my love for horror novels. These, ladies and gentlemen, are the books that helped paved the path from a young book worm to a non-professional book critic. I still have some in my library among my other books and they are priceless to me. I wouldn't sell them for all the money in the world. I would pick as favorites "My Hairiest Adventures" from Goosebumps and "Madness At The Mall" from Shivers and I highly recommend them for some good light reading.
6. The Space Cadet pinball game on Windows XP

This was back when waiting for the internet connection to come back was enjoyable. Big shock, I know. I used to play this so much in ICT class at school when I was a kid. Whenever I had finished my work to do during class I would always open this game and try to beat the current high score. The only thing better than this is an actual pinball game in an arcade. Also this was probably the only real good thing about Windows XP. I wish they added this game to the new windows versions.
7. Spider-man: The Animated Series

This show was the birth of my inner Marvel and DC universe geek. Not to mention this was one of the best Spider-man series ever. I can remember only 3 including this that were worth watching. One of the things I remember most was the opening theme song and the voice acting. They were not what you would call good now, but back then they were top notch. I actually have a DVD with around 5 episodes on it. I might actually watch it after posting this special :D
8. Tamagotchis

When I was in the 5th grade, you were a majorly cool kid if you had a Tamagotchi. It was like it was bring your pet to school day every day, but with a virtual twist! This was the nintendogs of my time. Probably the worst thing about Tamagotchis is that unlike most virtual pets these days, they actually died. And you would be in mourning over them for quite a while too. But I wonder if they could ever bring it back in a more modern way.
9. The pencils with replaceable leads

This was one of the most wonderful and horrible things ever created when it came to stationery. I loved having these pencils because they would come in all sorts of looks and colors but since we were kids, there was a huge mishap to having these. When you finish a lead, you would pull it out of the end of the pencil and push it into the top which would push out a new lead to use. What happens when you lose one of the leads? You can never use the pencil ever again. I would try to write with the pencil almost horizontal to the paper, but that was just frustrating so I went back to normal pencils. Now I just use mechanical pencils which are by far so much better. But you had to admit the idea was pretty cool at the time.
10. The Disney renaissance period

Most of my top favorite Disney movies were from this period. To be more precise, 9 out of 10 of the films you see above are among those favorites. As a 20-year-old I can say with great pride that I never get tired of watching my favorite Disney movies, especially the ones from the renaissance period. The music was incredible. The designs were beautiful. The characters were inspiring. The stories were amazing. Need I go on? I definitely want my kids watching these in the future.
So I hope all you 90's kids enjoyed this special blog post and I hope you as well as I can share all the memories from our days of innocent youth with our kids one day.
