HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Hello and welcome to a special edition of this blog's advice column! Today's topic is all about how to make your mom's mother's day special! Now I'm aware that some countries already had their mother's day (the US for example) but since I'm in Egypt I'm talking about it now because ours is on the 21st. But this goes out to you, all the mothers of the world.

First, we'll talk about how to shower your mom with affection. Now you don't do this with gifts. You can buy her a gift if you want, but materialistic items mean little to nothing to a mother. Moms just want to know that you care and appreciate everything that they do for us. I know for a fact that nothing we do could ever come near to what they do for us, but they deserve to see the effort. So we'll start off with the topic of showing your mom how much you lover her without having to buy her a gift for those who don't make their own money yet or are a bit short on cash.

I think that people know how much a person truly cares when that person helps out. A mere helping hand is such a huge symbol of affection. So multiply it 5 times on mother's day. You (and your siblings if you have any) can do all of your mom's chores around the house if she's a stay at home mom. Think about it, she does this almost every day. She'd be more than happy, she'd be ecstatic, if she woke up and just spent the day without having to clean the house from top to bottom. So all you have to do is wake up early and start doing the chores. If your mom wakes up while you're doing it and wants to help, insist on her relaxing. Another option, one leaning more to girls, give her a mani-pedi and do her hair for her before she's off to work or before you go out for dinner. Moms, and women in general, love feeling good about how they look. So it would feel extra special when it comes from their daughters.

Now if you can't find the time to do the chores or home salon options, if it is a school or work day for example, then buying a gift is an option. Gifts for a mom should be one that would come in handy. Something that would make her daily routine a lot easier. Or you could buy her something she has had her eye on, but hasn't had the time to get it. If your mom is a home-maker, you can buy her that rumba vacuum cleaner. It’s a little vacuum cleaner that moves on its own and can easily move under furniture for those hard places to reach (not a sponsor, just an idea). Or get her that purse or those pair of shoes she's been wanting for so long.

Another option is to buy a subscription to something she'd like or a spa day or maybe even a trip somewhere. Like a trip she can cash in whenever she wants. Moms are hard workers and they never stop being moms so getting away from everything gives them a chance to relax and have fun for a while. Subscriptions to something like a magazine they love to read or yoga or spas, etc. are also a good idea so they save money and don't have to go through the trouble of going to buy it every week.

Lastly, you can take the time to cook a nice meal for her. If you don't have the skills then take her to a nice place for dinner. Or if you work during the afternoon and most of the evening then you can bring her breakfast in bed. That never fails to impress.

So, I hope you guys have benefited from these tips and tricks. Always remember to let your mom know how much you love her and how much you care, even if it isn't mother's day or her birthday. The smallest things, not necessarily material things. Call her every day, see how she's doing. Ask about her day. Show it whenever you can however you can. That's all for today, hope you guys enjoyed it! Stay tuned for next Thursday! Hue Mann, over and out!! ;)
